Installation

1. First check to see there are no keyway locations protruding into the inside of the axle. If there are, installation will not be possible. Next, drill two opposing 3mm (7/64") holes approximately 5mm (3/16") from each axle end, then deburr the holes and clean axle ends.

2. To fit the SMART AXLE TUNERS, unscrew by 3-4 turns, the 8mm socket head cap screw bolt inside the aluminum cone and pull back the aluminum cone so the unit is mall enough to fit inside the axle. Screw the supplied 16mm threaded rod into the end of the cone and push the SMART AXLE TUNER inside the axle so it is in the desired position. A good starting point is 10mm (3/8") outside the axle bearing.

3. Once positioned, tighten the 8mm socket head cap screw bolt inside the aluminum cone. The cone will expand in place.

4. Install the two supplied spring clips into the 3mm (7/64") holes drilled into the axle ends earlier. These spring clips are an added safety measure to prevent the SMART AXLE TUNERS from accidentally coming out of the axle.

Removal

Remove the two safety clips, unscrew the 8mm socket head cap screw bolt approximately 4-5 turns, then screw the 16mm threaded rod into the end of the aluminum cone. Place the supplied large flat washer and nut onto the end of the 16mm threaded rod and tighten to release the taper. The SMART AXLE TUNERS are now ready to be removed from the axle by pulling the threaded rod outwardly.
